This is an unofficial bet, and it’s something fun that I like the idea of sprinkling a DraftKings profit boost on. Tonight we have the Home Run Derby, which doesn’t provide us with much to bet on with an edge, but it is a fun watch. I think I found something with a slight edge, though. Let's get into it.

2023 Home Run Derby Predictions
On DraftKings, I noticed that both Pete Alonso and Julio Rodriguez have the same first-round home run totals of 21.5. I find this interesting because Alonso is widely a -170 favorite to win the first round. He is also the lower seed, so he will set the tone and try to get as many as possible to force the issue on Rodriguez.
Alonso has won this contest twice before and has been vocal about how seriously he takes it. He has a new pitcher this year with a great story. This year, his pitcher is Mike Friedlein, he coached Alonso when he was a teenager, and they promised each other that if Alonso made the big leagues and entered a home run derby, he would get to pitch to him. Tonight, that promise comes true.
With a profit boost on DraftKings, we knocked this up from +110 to +165. We have seen Alonso hit 35 in round 1 before; we just need 22. Julio Rodiguez is the hometown favorite, so Pete will need to hit plenty to stay alive in round 1. Let's roll!
