The MLB All-Star Game is widely regarded as the best exhibition game in sports. The best players in the world are playing against each other on the same field, at the same time. The American League has dominated in recent history and will be going for their tenth straight win in the All-Star Game. Will the National League finally end their losing streak in Seattle tonight?

For years, the MLB All-Star Game has produced similar results. The American League typically wins, and the game goes under in a low-scoring affair. Things could be a little different this year, with the National League having the better roster and starting lineup.
Many of baseball’s best from the American League will not be competing in this contest tonight due to injury. Aaron Judge, Mike Trout, Yordan Alvarez and Shane McClanahan have all been ruled out, and it’s highly unlikely we see Shohei Ohtani pitch with his recent figure injury.
The National League has many pitching replacements, but there were no injury replacements in their starting lineup or position player reserves. The AL is at more of a deficit here with some of their best hitters being unavailable. The NL’s pitching replacements (Bednar, Cobb, Senga, Kimbrel and Burnes) can all hold their own. My point is, the drop-off between the AL’s replacements is more significant than the NL’s, giving the National League an edge tonight.
The excess of NL pitching replacements could honestly end up being an advantage for them, allowing potentially one or two of the best young arms in baseball (Zach Gallen, Justin Steele and Mitch Keller) to pitch two innings tonight.
The National League unsurprisingly opened up as the underdog tonight after losing for nine consecutive years. With only a few hours until first pitch, the NL is now the betting favorite, an interesting move considering the AL’s recent success. Bet with the sharps and back the National League to finally end their near decade-long losing streak. The National League’s lineup is stacked, and not a single position player selected to the ASG declined the invitation. This Braves/Dodgers-heavy NL lineup finally has the advantage against the dominant American League.
