Yesterday was an ugly one for us with our strikeout props. We went 1-2, which wasn't so bad. But we had Zach Eflin to earn six strikeouts or more strikeouts, and he got zero. We also had Josiah Gray to earn five strikeouts, and he gave us two. But tight losses and brutal losses all count the same. Let's get back on track with tonight's slate of games.

Jesus Luzardo is really starting to develop into the starter everyone expected him to be. Luzardo has increased his strikeout rate from 29.2% on the season to 34.2% in the last month. Luzardo has struck out 28% of lefties and 35.9% of righties in the last 30 days. The stat against righties matters more because he's a lefty typically facing mostly righties. That'll be the case tonight. He's taking on a Cardinals lineup that should have seven righties in the lineup. The Cardinals have five batters striking out at least 25% of the time. With so many targets in the lineup, back Luzardo to earn at least seven strikeouts tonight.

Shane McClanahan hasn't been himself recently. He's struck out only 12.5% of batters in the last month. But let's not overreact here. He's struck out 26% of batters throughout the season and will likely return to that tonight. McClanahan is facing a Rangers lineup with four batters striking out at least 25% of the time against lefties. The other five batters have done well against lefties regarding strikeouts. But when McClanahan is on his game, he's hard to hit. I'll back McClanahan to earn at least six strikeouts tonight.

Logan Gilbert's strikeout rate has also dipped over the last month. He's struck out 24.8% of batters this season but only 19.4% in the previous month. But he's been able to limit walks to 4.7 in those same 30 days and allowed just a .131 ISO and wOBA of .252 to his last 129 batters. Gilbert is even above-average in swinging strikes and whiffs over the previous month. The strikeouts are going to come. He's facing a Twins lineup that has struck out over 29% of the time against righties in the last 30 days. They've got seven batters striking out at least 22.9% of the time in the previous month. Gilbert's going to have a big night with strikeouts.
