Chicago Cubs vs. St. Louis Cardinals Prediction
The St. Louis Cardinals are at Wrigley Field for the next four days for a massively important division series with the Cubs. Not only is this a divisional clash between the league's greatest rivalry, but it is also the start to a pivotal stretch in which St. Louis and Chicago square off eight times in their next twelve games; this could be a pivotal two weeks in the season for both squads, and they are both well aware of that.
St. Louis heads into this game with the most momentum they have had since May, and after winning six of their last seven games of the home stand, there genuinely appears to be life. This squad is uber-talented across the board, and although they did not show that much, or at least in unison, up to this point, they have been since the break.
The defense was outstanding over the weekend series with Washington, and the arms, both in the bullpen and rotation, have really stepped up and provided some quality innings. Offensive prowess was never this squad's problem, they can hit top to bottom, and the team's heart has been producing in a big way lately. I know Marcus Stroman has been excellent, but with Steven Matz coming off of a start he looked phenomenal in and the momentum this squad has, I have to believe they go get it these next two weeks, and that starts tonight.
