Milwaukee Brewers vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction
When Soroka first came up back in 2018/2019, he was one of the best young pitchers in the league and was on the fast track to becoming a yearly all-star in a very young Braves starting rotation. Soroka has since been plagued by injuries, including two separate Achilles tears, which caused him to miss parts of nearly four seasons. After fighting through a lot of adversity, Soroka is finally back and healthy and appears to be returning to his 2019 form.
Soroka has been able to put together three straight solid starts against the Miami Marlins, Cleveland Guardians, and Chicago White Sox, where he tallied just under 14 innings while giving up just five earned runs. More importantly, he only allowed three walks and did not walk a single batter in his starts against Chicago and Miami while striking out a total of 14 batters across those three starts, so it appears that his command is starting to come around again. Soroka is not a big power pitcher by any means, but he has a large repertoire of pitches he uses to induce soft contact, which allows him to pitch out of jams frequently.
The Milwaukee Brewers are a fairly average offense that can be very anemic at times, and I think this is a solid matchup for Soroka. On the other side, the Brewers will be starting Freddy Peralta, who is usually very good at home, but this Braves lineup is a difficult animal right now. Over the last few months, The Braves have emerged as the best team in the league, and it is largely due to their power-infused lineup. Atlanta has power bats all throughout the lineup from 1-9, and the emergence of Austin Riley over the past 5-10 games has really taken this Atlanta offense to the next level.
Peralta has good stuff, but he does tend to give up homers at a fairly high rate, and I think the Braves will tag him for at least a couple of long balls tonight. With that being said, I am rolling with Atlanta Braves F5 ML at -108 and Atlanta Full Game ML at -110 for 1.5u each for a 3U position on the Braves tonight. I think the Braves offense will be the story of tonight’s game, and I expect Soroka to pitch well enough to hold down a win tonight.
