Last year, both Tony Gonsolin and Andrew Heaney had the best season of their careers. They both pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2022 and will now face off against each other in Texas tonight. It’s been a bumpy road for Gonsolin, who started the year on the IL and has yet to find his groove, and Heaney, who’s just flat-out bad. As they take the mound tonight against two of the best offenses in baseball, it’s no longer a question of whether or not the over is going to hit; it’s when. It wouldn’t surprise me to see this one cash before the seventh-inning stretch.

Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction
The Dodgers’ offense is elite, and although they haven’t fully lived up to the expectations this year, they still have two Hall of Famers at the top of the lineup. This team is heading to Texas after putting up 21 runs in three games against the O’s in Baltimore. I’m not sure what it is, but there’s something about this Dodgers’ offense when they’re playing on the road…
The over is 30-17-3 in Dodgers’ road games this season. Every game against the Orioles in the previous series went over; this offense is currently firing on all cylinders. Chris Taylor and Max Muncy are starting to heat up again. Although this team might not have a higher batting average against left-handed pitching, they do own a higher slugging percentage against left-handed pitching compared to facing right-handers. With above-average hitting conditions at Globe Life Field, expect the Dodgers to do some damage with the long ball tonight.
The Texas Rangers have been playing winning baseball of late, winning seven of their past ten games. For once, they haven’t been doing it with just their offense. It’s been the new addition of Aroldis Chapman and the consistency of the starting pitchers that have brought the Rangers success this week. Unlike the Dodgers, they are coming off three straight unders, holding the potent Tampa Bay Rays’ offense to only six runs all series. Unfortunately for Texas, they won’t be able to rely heavily on pitching to win this game tonight, with Andrew Heaney taking the mound.
Both Gonsolin and Heaney have struggled mightily for the greater part of two months, but they are each coming off solid outings. Heaney held the Cleveland Guardians scoreless through 5.1 innings, and Gonsolin pitched a gem against the New York Mets last week. Don’t expect these results to replicate; the Dodgers’ and Rangers’ lineups are ten times more potent than the Guardians and Mets. If anything, I like the fact that I’m fading both starters coming off great outings, and I’m willing to bet they don’t run it back.
This total opened up at 8.5 before getting steamed up to 9.5 overnight. With around 50% of bets and 85% of the handle backing the over, clearly, some big bets have made it to the window on the over, causing it to move with the sharp action. Ride with the sharps and back both offenses to shine against two overrated veterans who haven’t been able to provide any consistency in 2023. Bet the over and enjoy the show. There might be twenty runs in this game by the time it’s over.
