Cleveland Guardians vs. Kansas City Royals Prediction

We are taking Josh Naylor’s RBIs today and laddering them up to 3+ RBIs. Naylor will see a Kansas City Royals team that he has had a ton of success against in the past two seasons. He has gone for 18 hits in the last ten games, including seven extra-base hits and 11 RBIs. Zach Greinke is on the mound for the Royals, and Naylor has had some success against him the last two times out, going three for six with a double.

Greinke comes into this game struggling, especially on the road. He has allowed six, seven, and five runs in his last three road starts and has allowed 4+ runs in six of nine road games this season. He also ranks in the bottom fifth percentile in expected batting average allowed and is in the bottom ninth percentile in expected slugging percentage. Lefties are having tons of success against him on the road this season, hitting .365 with a .270 ISO, and I think Naylor will continue the trend tonight.

I expect the Cleveland Guardians to get to Greinke and ultimately win the game. The books seem to agree with a moneyline price around -200 odds. When the Guardians win, Naylor has an RBI in 16 of the last 24 games, with 2+ RBIs in 9 of 24 and 3+ RBIs in 4 of 24. With the Guardians in a good spot to put up runs, I’ll take a shot on Josh Naylor to drive them in.
