Should you fade Andrew Abbott and the Cincinnati Reds against the Milwaukee Brewers tonight? Baseball expert Krabs provides his prediction and best bet for the game.

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds Best Bet: Should You Fade Andrew Abbott, Reds?

We haven’t seen Corbin Burnes pitch this well since he won the Cy Young Award in 2021. Burnes is coming off fourteen innings of scoreless baseball, recording only four hits allowed and twenty-three strikeouts in those two starts. Facing a Reds team who he historically dominates, will Burnes throw his third gem in a row at home tonight?

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds Prediction

There isn’t a single Reds player on the roster with more than ten at-bats and a batting average above .160 against Corbin Burnes. The 28-year-old righty dominates the Reds, and so do the Brewers: Milwaukee has won the last five games against Cincinnati, with a 9-2 record overall against their division rival this season. The Brewers own the Reds, and that isn’t going to change with a rookie on the mound for Cincinnati.

Corbin Burnes isn’t the only starting pitcher tonight who’s looked great recently. Andrew Abbott has become the ace of this young Reds team and is coming off his best career start. Abbott dealt for eight scoreless innings against the Giants in his last outing, allowing only one run. Although the Giants have a solid record, they have struggled mightily at the plate recently. Don’t overreact to Abbott’s recent gem; if anything, think about fading him coming off his best career outing.

The Reds are having an incredible season. It’s impressive what they’ve accomplished with such a young roster. The one barrier Cincinnati has yet to overcome would be defeating the Brewers, a veteran team who isn’t flashy on paper but gets the job done. These teams could not be more different in that sense, and it’s played out well for Milwaukee. Until the Reds prove that they can defeat their division rival, continue to fade them against the red-hot Brewers. Milwaukee has quietly won seven of their last ten games as they look to add on another win with their ace on the mound tonight.

The opening line in this game had Milwaukee as a short favorite at home tonight. They’ve since been steamed up to (-150) on the moneyline, a surprising move against Andrew Abbott and the “gritty” Reds. It looks like Corbin Burnes has another gem of a performance scheduled for tonight against a team he historically dominates. Back the Brewers and fade the Reds until they show they’re capable of beating the first-place “Brew Crew.”
