The main bet here is the George Kirby leg. I thought about drinking all of the juice at -160, but this just feels better. Kirby has allowed six or fewer hits in 30 out of 44 career games. A hit rate of 68% is great, especially against a team he just dominated five days ago.
Kirby faced off against this same Minnesota Twins team and pitched seven solid innings against them, allowing just four hits. The offense gets a chance to redeem themselves but Kirby was an All-Star for a reason; I have faith that he allows six or fewer against a Minnesota team whose bats have been uninspiring all year.
Our juice reducer is for the Detroit Tigers not to lose by 5+. This is more about the Los Angeles Angels not being a team that blows people out than having faith in Detroit to hit Griffin Canning. The Angels have only won 5+ once in their past 33 games. A hit rate of 32/33 would be a 97% recent hit rate. That one game came on June 24th when Los Angeles randomly scored 25 runs in one night; that shouldn’t happen again against Eduardo Rodriguez.
