MLB Home Run Parlay Tonight: Can Cody Bellinger, Chas McCormick, Mark Canha Go Yard?
It's a beautiful Wednesday night, so what better way to enjoy it than with a home run parlay? This one is three legs and features a bolstered +21740 line thanks to a huge +900 addition that can be found at FanDuel. Without wasting any more time, let's go through the three guys who will make us rich tonight.
MLB Home Run Parlay
Leg 1: Cody Bellinger
The first leg is Cody Bellinger. If you asked me if I would bet on Bellinger to hit a dinger last season, I would have told you to kick rocks. However, Bellinger is having a comeback season for the ages, hitting .314 with a .903 OPS. Bellinger also has 14 home runs, which isn't bad, and we know from previous seasons he can go yard at any time. Tonight may be a good time.
Why is it such a good time? Well, Bellinger faces Lance Lynn tonight, a pitcher sporting a 6.18 ERA and a league-high 28 home runs allowed. Lance Lynn has given up at least one home run in just about every outing this season, including giving up four last time out against the Twins. He just doesn't have it this season, and that's good news for Bellinger.
Bellinger has hit a home run in two of his last four games, and he has seven total in July in 77 at-bats, averaging a home run every 11 at-bats in July. He is also hitting .429 with a total OPS of 1.200 in July, for what it's worth. The man is red hot, and he has a home run off Lynn in five appearances against him as well. This leg is a no-brainer.
Leg 2: Chas McCormick
The second leg is Chas McCormick. Chas does not have enough at-bats against lefty pitchers to qualify on the standings, but if he did, he would be second in the MLB against lefty pitchers with a 1.072 OPS. He is simply one of the best in the entire MLB at hitting off lefties, and he gets lefty Andrew Heaney tonight. Chas has five home runs in 65 at-bats off lefty pitchers this season, and 6 of his 13 home runs have come at home, where he is hitting .309 as well.
If Chas' numbers against lefties weren't enough to convince you, he also has six home runs in 62 at-bats in July while hitting .355 with a 1.188 OPS. The kid is hot, and he gets his favorite-handed pitcher tonight. It's a dangerous time to be facing Chas, and he has five home runs in his last ten games. Heaney should be shaking in fear to face him tonight. Another no-brainer addition to the parlay.
Leg 3: Mark Canha
The last addition may scratch some heads. It's Mark Canha. Yes, I know Canha only has six home runs this season, but he does have decent power, and he does have the ability to go out of the yard, and this is a good spot for him tonight. He's hitting in Yankee Stadium, a hitter-friendly park, on a humid night. He's also facing Carlos Rodon, who has given up four home runs in his first three starts since returning from injury, and he just doesn't look good right now. His strikeout numbers are down, and it doesn't look like he's 100% since returning.
While Canha isn't a huge home run threat, he is facing a lefty tonight, and he does have half (3) of his home runs against lefties this year in 89 at-bats, holding a much higher home run rate against lefties. This has been true against Rodon, who he actually has two home runs against in only nine at-bats. Those two home runs against Rodon are tied for the lead with all Mets active players. If someone is going to go yard against Rodon tonight, which is likely, the odds actually favor Canha here. He may only homer once in a blue moon, but the stars are aligned tonight, and he is +900 to hit a home run. With those astronomical odds, I'll throw him in the parlay to boost the odds significantly.
