Miami Marlins vs. Philadelphia Phillies Prediction
The Philadelphia Phillies are in Miami for a National League clash with the Marlins, and I am riding with the dog tonight in this one. Philly is 57-49 after a strong push that they have been riding since the start of June. The Miami Marlins are right there with them at 57-50, although they have stalled out much harder recently.
I love this spot for Philly to regain some momentum quickly, and I expect them to capitalize on the opportunity tonight. Ranger Suarez is sporting a 4.21 ERA and just a 2-5 record on the season; however, he has been excellent in his career against Miami. Suarez has held current Miami hitters to a slash line of just .185/.279/.297 thus far in his career over a solid sample size against them.
On the flip side, Sandy Alcantara has not been himself this year, sporting a 4.46 ERA to go along with a record of just 4-9. To go along with that misfortune for Sandy, he has always struggled against Philadelphia. Philly hitters are slashing .325/.364/.471 against him through 231 at-bats for 75 hits (22 XBH.) They have seen him plenty and historically have hit him quite well. I love this spot for the Phillies.
