The Padres, on paper, should be one of the best teams in baseball. As we head into the “home stretch” of the season, they are still under .500 with a 54-55 record. It’s surprising to see the Padres getting this much respect on their moneyline tonight. The Dodgers are one of the best teams in baseball, coming off a sweep against the Oakland Athletics, where they outscored the A’s 25-5 in a three-game series.
Bobby Miller has done a great job filling in for the injured Walker Buehler in the Dodgers’ starting rotation. He pitched well against two of the best lineups in baseball, the Cincinnati Reds and Texas Rangers, in his last two outings. If Miller has been pitching well, and the Dodgers are coming off a sweep, why are they underdogs against the sub-par Padres tonight?
San Diego is finally getting some respect from oddsmakers tonight. Yu Darvish is coming off one of his best starts of the season, striking out nine Rangers hitters in six shutout innings.
