Seattle Mariners vs. San Diego Padres Prediction: Can Logan Gilbert, Mariners Dominate?
The San Deigo Padres have had a very up-and-down season to this point and are coming off a series loss to the Dodgers. Can they get right here in Game 1 on the road against the Seattle Mariners? Let's break it down.

The Seattle Mariners have been blessed with a stable of young pitching stars, and tonight one of them takes the bump in Logan Gilbert. Gilbert has been unbelievably consistent through his first two full seasons in a major league rotation as he comes into this start with a record of 9-5 and a very respectable ERA of 3.86.

Gilbert has also gotten hit fairly hard over his last few starts as he has allowed ten earned runs in just under 18 innings, but that came against some stiff competition, including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Toronto Blue Jays, and Boston Red Sox, who all have well above-average offensive production.
Things don’t get easier tonight for Gilbert against a star-studded San Diego Padres lineup. Still, even though San Diego possesses many household names, it has not led to above-average offensive production or wins, for that matter. The Padres have actually gotten carried by their pitching staff for the most part, but their staff let them down big time in their four-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, as they allowed 34 total runs in the series for an average of just under nine runs per game.
Tonight the Padres will start one of their lesser options in Nick Martinez, who has put up decent numbers with a 3.68 ERA. Still, I believe he is due for some negative regression, and on the other side, Logan Gilbert should be due for positive regression after a few shaky starts. With that being said, I am rolling with Seattle F5 ML at -114 and Seattle Full Game ML at -114 for 1.5u each for a 3U total position on the Mariners tonight for my most confident MLB plays of the day.
