ANALYSIS

MLB Player Prop Picks Today: Is it Matt Chapman's Time to Shine on Wednesday?

I like Matt Chapman today against Logan Allen and the Guardians. I am taking his double and his homerun props as I am expecting an extra-base hit from him and think there is a chance to hit both which he has done 6 times this season.

MLB Player Props

Chapman comes into this game with a double or a home run in 5 of his last 8 road games and is crushing lefties this season, especially on the road. He has a .463 AVG and .415 ISO against lefties on the road and I think he should have more success against Logan Allen tonight. 5 of Chapman’s last 7 hits against left-handed pitching have been doubles or homeruns and he will see a favorable pitch mix that he has hit well. Logan Allen primarily throws his 4-seam fastball and changeup to right-handed batters and Chapman has great numbers with these pitches. Below are his stats to lefty 4-seam fastballs and changeups.

  • vs. 4-Seam Fastballs: .290 AVG | .387 ISO | 71.4% Hard Hit % | 33.3% Barrel % | 6 Doubles/HRs
  • vs. Changeups: .455 AVG | .318 ISO | 85.7% Hard Hit % | 42.9% Barrel % | 5 Doubles/HRs

The data shows that is hitting this pitch mix hard and going for extra bases quite frequently. Additionally, Logan Allen is allowing a .287 AVG to right-handed batters at home and ranks in the bottom 36th percentile in barrel %. This makes for a good matchup for Matt Chapman tonight and I expect that he will barrel one up for an extra-base hit and cash one or both of our props.
