This is a bet my grandma could have made, but it’s good value regardless. Jordan Montgomery has hit this in nine of his last ten, with the only miss being caused by injury. The one miss was against the Chicago White Sox on July 7th, where he was just five outs away and only at 66 pitches.
Oakland Athletics vs. Texas Rangers Prediction
Montgomery is with a team in Texas and is one-for-one in his starts there at hitting this prop. He now faces an Oakland Athletics team that is below average in pitches per plate appearance and just allowed the last two Texas Rangers pitchers in, Dane Dunning and Max Scherzer, to his this number with ease.
The season is already over for Oakland, and I expect players to be swinging early in counts here. Montgomery is a very solid pitcher holding a 3.40 ERA on the season, and the sportsbooks are respecting him in every other market. His earned runs prop is just set at 1.5. If he allowed just one or two runs, six innings should be very in play.
The only concern here is the well-rested Texas bullpen, but there’s no need to go to them early if Montgomery is cruising. Montgomery is a better pitcher than Oakland has bats. He should have a relatively easy time getting through this lineup and generating quick outs. Let's hope it’s as easy as it sounds, and let's keep it rolling!
