Patrick Corbin has struck out only 15.5% of batters last month. He's also struck out 15.2% of batters throughout the season. That usually doesn't equate to Corbin earning five strikeouts in a game. However, the Phillies have struck out 29.9% of the time against lefties over the last month. Corbin has thrown an average of 92 pitches per start this season and has limited walks to 4.1%. Corbin has a legitimate chance to go six innings. He might allow a homer to Bryce Harper, but other than that, I like Corbin's potential tonight. He's got so many targets to earn strikeouts. If he can get at least one per inning, there's a great chance that Corbin earns at least five strikeouts tonight. The Phillies' lineup typically strikes out once every three batters against lefties.

Aaron Nola has struck out 26% of batters over the last month and 24.6% this season. But he's facing a difficult Nationals lineup that has struck out only 20.7% of the time against righties in the last month. Nola essentially has three targets in the Washington lineup. The rest of the lineup has struck out 21.3% or less in the previous month against righties. The Nationals even have three batters limiting strikeouts to 12.9% or fewer against righties. Seven strikeouts is a lot to ask from Nola tonight.

James Paxton has earned 29.6% of strikeouts against righties throughout the season. His strikeout rate has been starting to dip over the last month. But he's got four premium targets against the Royals tonight. The Royals have four batters striking out at least 25% of the time against lefties. Meanwhile, Paxton has earned 25.7% of whiffs against righties and 14% of swinging strikes out against righties over the last month. The Royals should have a full lineup of right-handed batters. If that's the case, Paxton should be able to earn at least seven strikeouts tonight.
