Adam Wainwright is 41 years old. The fact that he’s still pitching is impressive in itself, but it’s starting to look like the veteran is running out of gas. St. Louis isn’t expecting Waino to dominate anymore; they just need innings at this point. It doesn’t hurt that he’s two wins away from 200 in his career.

Kansas City only has 37 wins this year, but 21 of them have come at home. They are debatably the worst road team in all of baseball, but at home, they score runs and compete. They are going to need to score runs tonight, considering Dylan Coleman is opening for them. He and his 10.05 ERA will be handing the ball over to one of the worst bullpens in baseball.
Both starting pitchers tonight combine for over an 18.00 ERA. You couldn’t script a better game to take an over in. I wouldn’t care if this total was at 20; I’d still be taking the over. Adam Wainwright is only pitching for the Cardinals because they traded away two of their other starters and are nine games back of a Wildcard spot. This team is dead, so they might as well throw Waino out there to get shelled and try to get his 200 career wins.
