To be fair, you could probably plug in any Brave to record a hit, and it has a good chance of cashing because Luis Severino is on the bump for the New York Yankees today. Luis Severino has been of the worst starting pitchers in the league this season, if not THE worst, and he has an 8.06 ERA in 14 appearances. Better yet, he has given up 92 hits in 63.2 innings pitched. When you look at his splits, there is a glaring weak spot. Severino is allowing a .294 batting average to righties and a .373 to lefties. So I'm targeting lefties in the Brave's lineup, and there's none hotter than Matt Olson, who leads the MLB in home runs.
Matt Olson is hitting .293 at home on the season and has been heating up in August, putting up a .380 average in August. He has a hit in six-straight games and has a hit in 12/14 games in August overall. The Braves are posting some of the best-hitting stats in the history of the game this season, and Matt Olson has been at the forefront of it. This is an excellent matchup against Severino for him to get at least one hit in this game.

It's a hot night in Nationals Park, with the wind blowing out, leading to a +27% home run boost. Say no more for Justin Turner, who has been a hit machine. Turner has been an amazing hitter in his career, posting a .289 batting average in 15 seasons in the majors. He is a veteran at the plate, and he has been showing it as of late.
Justin Turner has a hit in 26 of his last 29 games. Yes, you saw that correctly. He also had a hit in every game except two in the ENTIRE MONTH of July. He started August with a .316 average, and he has been a core piece in this Boston Red Sox lineup. There's not really much else to say. He has a hit in 26 of his last 29 games. Of course, I am taking him to get another hit tonight. Gray has been pretty good, but he has actually pitched much worse at home and has allowed 48 hits in 47 innings at home.

Another struggling pitcher takes the mound tonight in the form of Kansas City Royals' right-hander Jordan Lyles. Lyles is a competitor with Severino for the worst active starter in the MLB right now, as he is sporting a 6.13 ERA this season. The Royals have been a mess all season, and Lyles has just been fuel to the fire. The Royals actually won the series opener yesterday, but chances aren't good to win the series tonight with Lyles on the mound. He has given up 126 hits in 126 innings, and a few of the Mariners have great numbers off him, including Eugenio Suarez.
Suarez is 5 for 9 off Lyles with two doubles and a home run. That's three extra-base hits in nine at-bats, and he has only struck out once. He may pad those numbers a bit more tonight, given how hot Suarez is. Suarez has a hit in nine of his 12 games in August, and he has a hit in 15 of his last 19 games overall. He is batting .292 so far in August, which has been his best month of the season. The Mariners are hot as an offense overall, and hitting is contagious in baseball. Although the Mariners have dropped three straight games after a hot streak, this is a great spot to get hits off Lyles. Suarez should do well tonight.
