Considering how poorly Arizona has played in the second half of the season, it’s impressive they are only one game out of a Wildcard spot. It won’t be easy for the Snakes to sneak into the postseason, with four teams all within one game of the final spot, but with how they’ve looked recently it’s certainly possible.
Arizona has won seven of their last ten games, including a series in San Diego when they outscored the Padres 17-10 in a four-game series. Their offense has finally awaken after struggling for months. If the Diamondbacks are serious about making one final postseason push, this series is pivotal for their chances. The Rangers enter this series on a four-game losing streak. Texas may have the better roster between these two teams facing off tonight, but they certainly haven’t been playing the best.
The Rangers are one of the best teams in baseball, but right now, they are “fade-able.” Instead of fading the Rangers on the moneyline and risking a blown save or Rangers late-game comeback, let’s just fade the Rangers starting pitcher.
