This is about as juicy as I would ever like to get, but this is a great prop. There are so many ways to win this one. He could be elite, and we win it, or he could be so bad so early he gets yanked right away.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Texas Rangers Prediction
Slade Cecconi has only started two games in the big leagues, but he does have a long leash. In those two starts, he has thrown 76 and 59 pitches. He allowed four hits in both games. I don’t expect him to randomly throw 90+ today, especially because Arizona got the day off yesterday, so they should have a rested pen.
Texas is, of course, a tough opponent, but they’ve been cold as of late, and if there’s ever a time to bet against them, it feels like now. Once again, if they tee off 4-5 hits on Slade in the first inning, I could see our guy getting pulled fast, too; we have different ways of hitting this one.
I project Slade to allow 4-5 hits and throw 70ish pitches, assuming he doesn’t allow home runs that get him taken out. He walked three batters in his last outing, which we absolutely love. If he’s not throwing strikes, he won’t be allowing hits, and he can walk every batter for all we care. Let's roll!
