After signing Noah Syndergaard to a one-year, $13 million dollar contract in the offseason, the Los Angeles Dodgers decided to end the Thor experiment by shipping him to the Cleveland Guardians at the trade deadline. During his tenure with the Dodgers, Syndergaard posted a dreadful 7.16 ERA over a dozen starts.

The change of scenery has yielded mixed results so far for Syndergaard, but I’m expecting him to struggle against his former ball club. The Dodgers are averaging 3.14 F5-inning runs per game on the road, which is the second highest in the league.
Syndergaard has allowed 3+ F5-inning earned runs in six of his last eight starts. He has struggled to limit base runners, has allowed the long ball, and can’t prevent runners from stealing. That is not a recipe for success against any team, especially one that can pinpoint and exploit your weaknesses.
