The Miami Marlins shocked the world early in the season and are still sitting above .500 on the year. This isn’t a team I am “buying” as we head into the final stretch of the season, though. Their offense doesn’t impress me, even with some acquisitions at the deadline, like Josh Bell. I like some of their young arms, but I want to continue to fade their offense down the stretch. Tonight, they’ll be facing Blake Snell, one of the best pitchers in baseball. With Jesus Luzardo on the bump for Miami, which lefty will out-pitch the other?

San Diego Padres vs. Miami Marlins Prediction
Blake Snell got off to a rough start this season, but he has been nearly unhittable over the last three months. Right now, he is the best left-handed starter in baseball. He should have no problem mowing down this Marlins’ lineup, especially at home. Snell’s strikeouts/inning is ridiculous when he pitches at Petco Park.
Jesus Luzardo is no slouch either, although he’s gotten roughed up pretty badly in his last three outings. Luzardo allowed 17 runs against the Astros, Yankees and Rangers, all teams who hit LHP extremely well. The Padres are much less of a threat, as they continue to underperform down the stretch.
This total opened at 8.5 before getting steamed down to 7.5. Petco Park is a pitchers park, meaning it’s not very hitter-friendly. With two great lefties on the mound tonight in a pitchers park, bet the under before the total drops even lower. Miami has struggled to put up more than a run per game over the past week, and San Diego’s loaded roster on paper has yet to deliver. With the total moving down a full run, I wouldn’t wait any longer to lock this one in.
Blake Snell should win the NL Cy Young award this year. He is going to throw a gem tonight against the Marlins, and Luzardo will bounce back against a much weaker lineup than he’s recently faced. This game might end 1-0.
