When the Minnesota Twins traded Luis Arraez to the Miami Marlins for Pablo Lopez, everyone thought they were crazy. We now know that the Twins have their ace of the future. The last time Pablo allowed a run was the first of this month, 24 days ago. He has been nearly perfect in his last three outings. What if I told you that I’m fading him tonight…

Minnesota Twins vs. Texas Rangers Prediction
The Rangers are in the midst of their worst stretch of the season. They’ve lost their last six games in a row. Their offense has been stunned by Milwaukee and Arizona in back to back series… so what makes me think he’s getting rocked tonight?
This Rangers offense can only be silenced for so long. This is statistically one of the best lineups in baseball, and although they are in the middle of a cold spell, we should let recency bias distract us from finding a winning play.
The majority of this Rangers’ lineup has seen Pablo well in a very limited sample. Adolis Garcia, Ezequiel Duran, Jonah Heim, and Josh Harrison are all hitting .500 or better in their careers against Pablo in a handful of at-bats. Max Scherzer, the Rangers’ new ace, even has a hit against the Twins starter in two at-bats.
Anyone who follows baseball knows that even the best players have a bad day every once in a while. Pablo has pitched incredibly in August and is definitely in the running for AL pitcher of the month, but he faces his toughest challenge of the month tonight against a Rangers lineup that’s incredibly due.
I was shocked when I saw the Rangers open up at (-105) in this spot. With how they’ve been playing, I thought they would’ve opened up closer to (+150) with Heaney on the bump. Although the odds have shifted slightly towards Minnesota tonight, that’s expected. The Twins are the hotter team with a better starting pitcher, I’m sure the public is all over them tonight…
I’m not saying we should bet on the Rangers in the middle of a six game losing streak. A better alternative would be fading Pablo Lopez, who has struggled against the Rangers in his career. Pablo’s earned runs allowed prop is currently sitting at 2.5, with the odds on the over at (-110). Fade the public and bet on the Rangers to rough up Pablo after a dominant August.
