This one feels almost too obvious. Luis Severino has finally had a good start in his last outing but is still on fraud watch as far as I’m concerned. He has pitched too many brutal outings to fool me into thinking his last start will be a new normal.
Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees Prediction
Severino has allowed 3+ earned runs in 11 of his last 14 games. Additionally, he is worse on the road holding a miserable 9.56 ERA away from New York. Comerica Park is a pitcher-friendly park, but I still love this hit rate and love that more people are taking the Yankees tonight.
This Tigers offense isn’t anything special, but we have seen Spencer Torkelson and Kerry Carpenter make leaps as potential home run threats and are capable of putting up runs. Severino has just been so bad that I think even a lower tier offense can enflict damage.
The Yankees are last in their division and should allow Severino to pitch through adversity and allow him to go 90+ unless he gets rocked extra hard, but by then, we would have already hit our bet anyway. Let's hope my hometown team comes through for us two days in a row. Let's roll!
