This one feels pretty straight up. Gerrit Cole is an ace and faces a bad team. Detroit will be likely pitching Joey Wentz, who isn’t great, and the Yankees can stack righties against him.

Detroit bats hit a lifetime 8-54 against Cole, which is only a .148 average. This game is being played at Comerica which is known for being pitcher friendly as well. Cole has a 2.48-away ERA, which also bodes well for us, and he should do the job as long he gets run support.
We just need the Yankees offense to help us out a little. This is more of a fading Wentz than a trusting of the Yankees bats. Wentz has north of a seven-home ERA and holds a 2-10 record. On rare occasions, we have seen him have really good stuff, but not nearly enough to be scared off.
We need Cole to pitch at least five innings and leave with the lead and for that lead to not be relinquished. Let's hope things go how they should, and let's roll!
