Arizona Diamondbacks vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction
Freddy Peralta got rocked in his last outing, giving up nine runs in three innings against the Marlins. Before than blow-up start, Peralta gave up two or less runs in seven of his last eight outings. He’s been one of the best starting pitchers in baseball for the last two months.
His opponent, Zac Gallen, can’t say the same. Although he’s coming off two great outings, Gallen went through one of the worst stretches of his career in the second half of the season. Gallen also has severe home/away splits, which has been an issue since he entered the league. Gallen is nearly unhittable at home, but on the road he put up a 4.42 ERA this year.
It took an Evan Longoria legacy performance to put the Diamondbacks up 1-0 in this series. I don’t see a world where this Wildcard series doesn’t go the full three games. The public is all over the snakes after last night’s legacy comeback win. More than half the bets and handle are currently backing Arizona on the moneyline, making them a public dog. We all know what happens to public dogs… they bite.
Although it might look like the Diamondbacks have an edge with their starting pitcher on paper, Peralta has been much better overall for the last two months, regardless of how his last start went. I give the edge to Peralta and the Brewers here, and we already know they have the bullpen advantage. Arizona had to dip into their bullpen early yesterday, and they’ll either be tasked with over-working their ‘pen, or saving their best arms for tomorrow’s must-win game three (if applicable). The Brewers are in a much better situation pitching wise tonight.
With the public jumping back on the Diamondbacks after an electric come-from-behind victory, bet the Brewers to keep their postseason hopes alive tonight. The line has already moved five cents towards Milwaukee at home, and with the public backing Arizona, this reverse line movement is a great sign for Brewers backers.
