5 minHouston Astros vs. Kansas City Royals Best Bet: Can Yordan Alvarez Stay Hot Against Royals?
The Houston Astros travel to Kansas City tonight to take on the Royals from Kauffman Stadium. The Astros come into this game off a 10–5 win over the Rangers in Texas. That win improved their season record to 4–7. While it has been a slow start for the Astros this season, they are still considered one of the best teams in baseball right now. The Royals have had a much better start to their season, starting 6–4 over their first 10 games, and are coming off a four-game sweep against the White Sox. What should we expect in tonight‘s game?

Houston Astros vs. Kansas City Royals Prediction
For this game, I will be targeting a player prop, specifically Astros hitter Yordan Alvarez. Alvarez had an extremely slow start to the season, going to 2-17 against the Yankees in the first series of the season, hitting just .118. However, since that series, he has caught fire and is now hitting .407 in the seven games since then. He has had three multi-hit games in April already in seven games, and has four home runs as well. The starting pitcher for the Royals, today is Cole Ragans, a lefty pitcher. Since Yordan Alvarez is a lefty hitter, people might shy away from him because of the lefty-lefty matchup. However, the underlying metrics prove the opposite. Yordan Alvarez has actually been a better career hitter against lefty pitchers, which is usually the reverse for most hitters. He has hit .302 against lefty pitchers and .291 against righty pitchers over his entire career. Conversely, Cole Ragans has a career .212 batting average allowed to right-handed batters and a .239 batting average allowed to left-handed hitters. These numbers line up when you look at their head-to-head meetings as well. Yordan Alvarez has eight career at-bats against Cole Ragans, and he has three hits in those eight bats with two being doubles. This Astros lineup as a whole has hit Ragans pretty well, and Alvarez should get at least three at-bats today against him. Alvarez has seen Ragans better than anyone else in this lineup hitting .375 against him. We are also getting plus money on Alvarez to go over 1.5 bases today at +115. Alvarez has gone over 1.5 bases in four of his last five games, and I like him to make it five of his last six today against Ragans.
