This number feels high for Jon Gray who only has 5 K’s on the season over two starts. I know what readers are thinking, he’s playing Oakland though! I get that, but this is still a number he has struggled with against the Athletics.

Last year Jon Gray faced Oakland three times. In those three games, he had 3, 5 and 2 K’s in those respective games. All in all he averaged just 3.3 K’s per outing against them. An outing of six would have been his best outing and that would still cash our under here.
Last year's stats we take with a grain of salt but here’s where things are important. Jon Gray has issues pumping strikes this year. He has yet to have a game among his first two starts where he throws 60% strikes or higher. It will be tough to ring in seven when you’re boosting your pitch count throwing balls.
I’ll end with this, the logical play here is to just take Texas because this game is for the series and they are much better than Oakland. I understand that and I could look guilty of massive overthinking by not just taking Rangers -0.5, but something about this play speaks to me more and I like it more. Let's roll!
