Did you catch the Royals or Mets in action last night? Both teams grabbed a series win with a combined 29 runs against the Astros and Braves on Thursday. Tonight, they face off in Queens for the first game of a new series. Kansas City is currently on a 7-game win streak. Will they stay hot against the lowly Mets on Friday night, or will Pete Alonso and Co. build on their momentum from last night’s 16-run performance?

Kansas City Royals vs. New York Mets Prediction
I typically don’t like backing teams coming off great offensive performances, but with the wind projected to be blowout out to left-center at 15mph, I can’t resist. I’m buying-low on the Mets who got off to a horrid start to the 2024 season. After scoring 16 runs against their NL East rival last night, I’m expecting another great performance from the Mets as they return home from Atlanta.
Both starting pitchers for Friday night’s contest are coming off great performances in their last outings. I want to sell-high on these veteran arms who have struggled with consistency in recent years. We haven’t seen this Royals offense play this well since they won the World Series back in 2015. They might not win this game, but their offense is going to show up once again as they try to keep their win streak alive.
If Wacha or Severino were going to follow up their recent gems with another masterclass tonight, the total wouldn’t be on the rise from o/u 8 to o/u 9 on some books. When these starters struggle, it can get ugly as they are seemingly prone to blow-up innings. Both Wacha and Severino have high ceilings and low floors; they are capable of throwing a complete game shut-out or giving up a crooked-number and getting pulled early. Looking at this total, it seems like either one or both of these starters is in for an early night.
Severino has showed flashed of greatness over the years, but overall he has struggled with his command mightily. Facing this red-hot Royals lineup tonight, I’m not expecting much success from the Mets veteran starter in his second home start at Citi Field. Let’s not forget how his first start on that mound went this season when he gave up 6 runs on 11 hits…
With the total on the rise, lock-in the over in this game before it gets any higher. Both the Mets and Royals put on a show at the plate last night. I don’t see either team’s offense slowing down anytime soon. With the wind blowout out the left-center, this game could soar over before the 7th-inning stretch.
