We've got 30 starting pitchers on the mound throughout the day. After looking through each matchup, I've found my favorite three strikeout props for tonight's slate of games.
Let's start the week off right!
April 15 Best MLB Strikeout Props
Reese Olson Under 4.5 Ks (+102) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
Reese Olson struck out 24.5% of batters last season. However, he's taken a step back this year, earning only 12.5% of strikeouts to begin the season.
Olson has also walked 10.4% of batters and has allowed a wOBA of .348 this year.
He'll likely struggle to put away the Texas Rangers tonight. Since last year, the Rangers' projected lineup has struck out only 21.8% of the time against righties. Ultimately, only two targets in the Texas lineup have struck out more than 21.4% of the time.
That's Adolis Garcia and Jared Walsh. However, Garcia is one of the largest power threats against righties in the MLB. While he could strike out plenty, he can also hit moonshots.
Therefore, we'll ride Olson's Under for strikeouts.
Martin Perez Under 3.5 Ks (-104) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
The Mets struggled to hit lefty Cole Ragans yesterday. But lefty Martin Perez doesn't have the stuff Ragans has.
Instead, Perez struck out 15% of batters last year and has only struck out 19.2% this season. That strikeout rate has the potential to drop over the last month or so, but it might be a little too high for Perez.
Perez will face a Mets lineup that has only struck out 18.8% of the time against lefties since last season. Only Francisco Alvarez and Brett Baty have struck out at a high rate against lefties since last season. However, both of these batters have matured over the last year after being rookies last season. Those strikeout rates will likely drop against lefties eventually.
Let's back the Under 3.5 Ks for Perez tonight.
Joe Ross Under 4.5 Ks (+100) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds
We're sticking with Unders tonight.
Joe Ross will take the mound for the Brewers. He's a right-handed thrower who has earned 22.7% of strikeouts but has also walked 13.6% of batters. That's ultimately why he's averaging just 80 pitches per game. If he continues to allow runners on base, he'll eventually implode.
That said, the Padres have only struck out 18.6% of the time against righties since last season using the projected lineup. Only Fernando Tatis Jr. and Tyler Wade have struck out more than 22% of the time against righties.
Ross has even struggled to earn more strikeouts against righties and will face more righties than lefties in tonight's San Diego lineup.
