That seems a little odd, especially considering Michael Lorenzen will be making his 2024 debut for the Rangers in this contest as well. He was an All-Star last season, and he’s an underdog to Reese Olson and the Tigers on Monday? Something seems off here…
Since Lorenzen was announces as the starter for Monday night, the Tigers have been catching steam all day. This is a great sign for Tigers bettors, considering less than 30% of the bets (on VSIN) are currently backing Detroit in this game. Back the Tigers on the moneyline with the sharps as they continue to catch steam throughout the afternoon.

New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays Prediction
Luis Gill has looked sharp for the Yankees in two starts this season, but it seems like oddsmakers are believing in the 25 year old right-hander to win this game against the crafty Blue Jays veteran on Monday night. Chris Bassitt got shelled in his first two starts of the season, so his stats are a bit inflated, but he settled down for a great outing against the Mariners in his last start.
Buy-low on Bassitt and the Blue Jays who are now the betting favorites after catching steam all afternoon. New York is off to a hot start this season, but their young righty has a tough assignment against a Toronto lineup that looks like it’s starting to finally heat up. Back the Blue Jays on the moneyline with their veteran Bassitt on the bump; I’ll meet you at the cash counter.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. New York Mets Prediction
Don’t look now, but the Mets are starting to get hot. Winners of three of their previous four, Pete Alonso and the Mets have a great matchup against a lefty tonight who’s coming off an eight-inning gem in his last outing. I love fading big-name arms after great starts… they generally struggle to replicate their success after a lengthy start. That’s probably why the Mets are the betting favorites in this spot against the 11-5 Pirates on Monday night…
I’m expecting the Pirates to fall-off at some point in the near future. They simply don’t have the pitching to keep up this trajectory throughout the season. Their closer has struggled to secure saves for Pittsburgh, and I give the Mets a significant bullpen advantage for this matchup tonight. With Alonso starting to carry this Mets offense averaging nearly seven runs a game over their last five contests, back their bats once again tonight to outscore the Pirates in the first game of this series.
