Welcome back to the daily hit parlay, brought to you by Calling Our Shot. The hit parlays have been a little rocky. Yesterday, we lost because Ketel Marte could not come through. He had two hard hit balls hit directly to the center fielder. Eventually those will drop for us. Today is that day. Here we go.
TUESDAY'S HIT PARLAY
LEG 1: ANDRES GIMENEZ (CLE) TO RECORD A HIT
Our first leg of this hit [arlay is: Andres Gimenez. If you have no idea who he is, now you do. He plays for the Cleveland Guardians and typically bats second in their lineup. On the year, Gimenez is batting .290. He started the year getting a hit in 13 of the first 14 games. However, he's now hitless in two straight games.
Yesterday, he got unlucky. Gimenez had three hit balls with a .510, .600 and .600 expected batting average, yet none of them resulted in hits. That's as unlucky as it gets. I expect him to do damage on Garrett Whitlock. Whitlock has been great to start the year, but I don't think that holds. He's due some regression. Gimenez will continue to get pitches to hit because he has Kwan in front of him, Ramirez right behind him. Andres is not going hitless for a third straight game.
LEG 2: KETEL MARTE (ARI) TO RECORD A HIT
and so we meet again.... Our second leg of this hit parlay is: Ketel Marte. Marte cost us all money yesterday when he didn't get a hit. Typically, we would avoid that player the next day and what always happens is they get a hit, sometimes two or three. We won't make that mistake here as Ketel faces Kyle Hendricks.
Kyle Hendricks has given up 8+ hits in every start this season. Marte is hitting .273 against righties as a switch hitter and should get several chances in a game with a total set to 9.5. Ketel will come through for us today! If he can't come through, he might never get a hit again and should retire immediately.
