Washington Nationals vs. Philadelphia Phillies Prediction
It’s not easy to score zero runs against the White Sox in consecutive games. That should tell you the state of the Nationals offense right now. Although they do get Joey Gallo back in the lineup tonight, there are no current threats besides Eddie Rosario in the Nats lineup. After a solid start to the season, hits have been hard to come by for Washington.
Zack Wheeler doesn’t have the best numbers against the Nationals in his career. He owns a 4.67 ERA and an 11-15 record, but there will be a lot of new faces in the lineup that haven’t faced Wheeler nearly as much tonight. He also hasn’t faced the Nationals in this much of a hitting drought in a while. Wheeler is coming off his worst start of his season, I doubt he follows it up with another dud of a start against this Nats lineup tonight.
Buy-low on Wheeler after his worst start of the year, and continue to fade the Nationals until they turn it around offensively. I don’t see Washington finding much offensive success against Philly’s ace or their elite bullpen on Friday night. Fade Washington’s offensive and bet the under on their team total; I’ll meet you at the cash counter.
