On the year, Sanchez has been a completely different pitcher at home and has some glaring splits. At home, he holds a 1.95 ERA and has pitched six innings or more in five consecutive starts in front of the Phillies' home crowd. On the road, his ERA jumps up to 4.32 and he has failed to pitch six innings or more in every road start except for one.
This is a great bounce back spot for him against a San Diego offense that has had its fair share of struggles when facing left-handed pitchers. On the season, the Padres rank 18th in wRC+ (96) and drop to 21st in wRC+ (88) as the visiting team. The Padres also are below league average in pitches per plate appearance and their aggressiveness at the plate can lead to quick outs. That will work in the favor of Sanchez as his pitching style is to limit hard contact.
