The Brewers will be sending out Bryse Wilson first to the mound. Wilson is 4–3 with a 3.84 ERA this season in 63.1 innings. Wilson has been an effective part of the Brewers starting cast and has been pretty good against the Padres in a short sample size. The Padres are 8–33 off him with just three walks allowed. On the other side, Adam Mazur will be starting for the San Diego Padres. Mazur is the Padres pitching prospect who got his first start in the big leagues this year back on June 4. He debuted in the MLB with a strong start, six innings against the angels with one earned run.
However, has gone very downhill since, as he gave up eight earned runs in three innings against the Diamondbacks in his next start and most recently gave up two earned runs while lasting only 3.2 innings against the Mets. He has a 7.82 ERA over his first three starts in the MLB and will be up against an excellent Brewers lineup that has been hot. The Brewers are 4–1 over their last five games and 6-4 over their last 10. They are now comfortably sitting atop the NL Central with a record of 44–30. They have done well on the road this season, sporting a 22–18 record on the road. The Padres are 1-4 over the last five games and 4–6 over their last 10. They have also struggled at home, going 18–21 in Petco Park and actually doing better on the road this season. The Brewers have hit much better against right handed pitching this year than they have left-handed pitching, and I expect them to stay hot on the road against a Padres team that has struggled as of late. Back the Brewers to end the night off with a strong win here in Petco Park and move to 45–30.
