You don’t see the Dodgers as this short of favorites on the moneyline very often. On Monday night, Los Angeles is barely a favorite against one of the worst teams in baseball, the Chicago White Sox. Why are the White Sox getting so much respect on the odds for their moneyline on Monday?

The White Sox are barely underdogs on Monday against the Dodgers for one reason… Garrett Crochet. The left-handed flamethrower has pitched very well this season as a starter for Chicago, giving up two or less runs in nine of his last ten starts. Will Crochet be able to shut down the Dodgers and their potent lineup on Monday?
If Crochet wasn’t going to pitch well on Monday, the White Sox wouldn’t be catching steam on the moneyline and the total wouldn’t be sitting so low at o/u 8. Oddsmakers clearly believe in Crochet and the White Sox to keep this game close in a low scoring affair with these odds and lines. After both teams soared over the total in their last game, this could be a great “sell-high” spot to fade both of these offenses.
James Paxton will be on the mound for the Dodgers on Monday. He has been Mr. Reliable for the Dodgers this season, and the White Sox offense has been silent for the majority of the season. They’ve only scored more than three runs once in their last five games. With Paxton looking sharp in his last two outings, I feel confident backing him and the Dodgers bullpen to limit the damage from the White Sox offense.
