The first game of the series between the Nationals and Padres was action-packed. The Nats put up three runs in the top of the tenth inning before Hunter Harvey blew the save against the Padres. After the game, Jurickson Profar spent plenty of time celebrating, even yelling towards the Nationals dugout. Will we see things heat up in the second game of the series on Tuesday?

Washington Nationals vs. San Diego Padres Prediction
The Nationals can’t get back to .500, and every time they get close, they lose. Last night, they got so close to finally pulling it off, but after the Padres scored four runs in the bottom of the 10th they fell just short. I’ve got a feeling Profar’s postgame antics are going to motivate the Nationals in the second game of this series…
There is another narrative in this game tonight. MacKenzie Gore will be facing his former team. The last time he faced the Padres in San Diego, he threw a gem against his former squad. I’m expecting much of the same for Gore tonight, who will be extra-motivated to not only avenge last night’s loss, but beat the team that traded him away for a Juan Soto rental.
Adam Mazur will be starting for the Padres on Tuesday. Talk about a great matchup for Washington to bounce back in. Mazur is a young right-hander who’s struggled mightily with his command this season. The Nationals crush right-handed pitching, and should have plenty of baserunners to drive in with Mazur’s walk issues. I’m fully expecting a bounce-back for the Nationals after last night’s melt job, especially with a couple of innings against Mazur.
We’ve seen the resilient Nationals bounce back time and time again after excruciating losses. When the lights are brightest tonight in what feels like a must-win spot to stay in the Wildcard hunt, why should we expect anything different? I’m willing to bet the Nationals bounce back after blowing last night’s game, earning some redemption and getting closer to playing .500 baseball. Fade the Padres and back the Nationals, who are catching more than 20 cents of steam for game two of this electric series.
