St. Louis Cardinals vs. Washington Nationals Prediction
If the Nationals could hand-select an opposing pitcher to face, Miles Mikolas might be the first option. Washington has crushed right-handed pitching, especially arms that fill the zone. Mikolas has been filling the strike zone of late, only walking four batters in his last six starts. Expect the Nationals to attack at the dish and be ultra-aggressive as they usually are, which could play to their advantage on Monday.
Mitchell Parker hasn’t pitched his best in his last three outings, but he has a great matchup against a lineup that typically struggles against lefties. They’ve found success against two lefties on the Nationals over the last two days, but Mitchell Parker is a different type of pitcher than MazKenzie Gore and DJ Herz. He relies heavily on his curveball and less on velocity like Gore and Herz. I’m predicting the Cardinals offense to struggle a little more against a finesse-style lefty this afternoon.
The fact that the Nationals are favorites against a Cardinals team with a winning record and veteran starter on the mound is a great sign for the home team.
