He will be facing the surging Padres, who were on absolute fire before dropping their last two games to the Diamondbacks. Will Gilbert add one more win to his already impressive first half stats, or will the Padres get back on track and pull off the upset at home?

Both of these teams are entering this series as losers in their last two games. Overall, it’s been a very solid first half of the season for both of these squads, who are currently in the postseason conversation. This matchup tonight significantly favors Seattle on paper with their All Star starting pitcher facing Adam Mazur’s 7.52 ERA, but the Padres are barely underdogs in this game. Shouldn’t Logan Gilbert be getting more respect?
The Padres have been a pleasant surprise that not many people believed in at the beginning of the year. It won’t be easy tonight against Logan Gilbert, but the Mariners offense has cooled off as we head into the All Star Break. I want to fade Seattle’s offense, even if that means backing a starter who has yet to pitch a scoreless outing this season.
Adam Mazur has been getting rocked around, but he is also one of the unluckiest pitchers in baseball. Let’s buy-low on the Padres rookie who currently has over a 10.00 ERA at home this season. That simply cannot continue, and a matchup against this struggling Mariners offense could be exactly what the young right-hander needs.
If Mazur was going to get destroyed once again tonight, the total in this game wouldn’t have opened at 7.5 and it wouldn’t be currently this low at 8. The Padres certainly wouldn’t be this short of underdogs against an All Star on the mound if Mazur was going to struggle once again. Back him to deal when the public least expects it and I’ll meet you at the cash counter after his first ever masterclass in the majors. The Padres bats have looked great in recent weeks, let’s back that at plus money to pull out the victory here.
