Well, we have had a rough couple days here on the diamond but I am looking to bounce back here tonight. Tonight, we have one of the best rivalries in baseball as the St. Louis Cardinals (48-44) host the Chicago Cubs (45-49) at Busch Stadium for the first game of four in this weekend NL Central Clash.

CHICAGO CUBS VS. ST. LOUIS CARDINALS PREDICTION
One of biggest momentum killers in baseball is losing both games of a double header and the Birds did that on Wednesday. They went from five games up on everyone in the division and only 4.5 games back from the brew crew to just three-four games up on everyone in the division (Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Chicago are all 45-48/49). If they choke things this weekend, they could throw away all their momentum from the last two months heading into the All Star Break.
This is a massive series against not only a divisional opponent but their biggest rival and the Cardinals need to start this series with a win. Luckily for them, things are set up for them to do so in game one.
The Chicago Cubs offense is heating back up and they just swept the Orioles (although to be fair Baltimore barely scored a run in the series) but tonight, they face Cardinals ace Sonny Gray. Gray is a dark horse Cy Young contender at 9-5 with a 3.30 ERA who has already cleared his win total from last season.
The veteran is spectacular at home and gets the rock on Friday night in a big time rivalry game where I expect a strong outing. On the flip side, Kyle Hendricks has the ball for the Cubs and is having a really rough year at 1-7 with a 7.53 ERA.
It's a bounce back game for the Birds tonight and they'll cool down the Cubs' win streak.
