New York appeared to be on their way to a sweep last night after jumping out to a 3-1 lead in the second inning.
The Brewers bats were silenced early in the contest, producing just one run over the first five-plus innings. That lone run came from Jackson Chourio, who smashed an opposite-field home run in the bottom of the first inning.
Milwaukee showed signs of life in the bottom of the sixth inning as Brice Perkins hit a sac-fly to drive in Brice Turang and cut the lead to one.
New York could not add to their lead as we headed to the bottom of the eighth inning. Chourio stepped to the plate to lead off the inning. The 20-year-old once again delivered, belting an opposite-field home run to tie the game.
American Family Stadium exploded joyfully as they saw their Brewers even the game. Willy Adames produced a two-out single, keeping the inning alive.
Then, the most significant swing of the Brewers' season happened as Garrett Mitchell launched a two-run home run to give the Brewers a 5-3 lead. Mitchell hit just eight home runs during the regular season.
All-Star Devin Williams slammed the door, setting the Mets down one, two, three in the top of the ninth.
New York will send veteran southpaw Jose Quintana to the mound tonight for Game 3. Quintana went 10-10 with a 3.75 ERA during the regular season.
Opposing the veteran will be 26-year-old Tobias Myers. The Winter Haven, Florida native posted a record of 9-6 with a 3.00 ERA.
