The New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies will meet at Citizen Bank Park on Saturday afternoon for Game 1 of this highly-anticipated NLDS series.
These two franchises have played 1,081 head-to-head games. However, none of them have been in the postseason. The Phillies and Mets have been arch-rivals since their first meeting in 1962.
New York clinched a playoff berth in a thrilling win over the Atlanta Braves on the final day of the regular season. The Mets faced the NL Central Champion Milwaukee Brewers in the wildcard round.
In Game 1, New York used a five-run fifth inning to defeat the Brewers 8-4. Milwaukee stole Game 2 after the Mets took a 3-2 lead into the eighth inning but could not close the door.
In Game 3, the Brewers took a 2-0 lead to the top of the ninth inning. All-Star closer Devin Williams came out to try to get the save.

This Phillies squad has reached the NLCS in back-to-back seasons and will attempt to make it again. Last year, the Phillies defeated the Atlanta Braves in the NLDS, but came up short in seven games in the NLCS against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
All-star Trea Turner has led the Phillies with a .295 batting average this year.
Kyle Schwarber led the squad with 38 home runs during the regular season.

Former Mets star Zack Wheeler will toe the rubber this afternoon. Wheeler went 16-7 with a 2.57 ERA, which ranked third in baseball.
