Detroit Tigers vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction
Cleveland has an opportunity to take complete control of this series tonight. Outfielder Steven Kwan led the team during the regular season, batting .292.
All-Star Jose Ramirez launched a team-best 39 home runs while driving in 118 runs. Josh Naylor added 31 home runs and 108 runs batted in.
Former Tiger Matthew Boyd gets the start today. Boyd is 2-2 with a 2.72 ERA.
Detroit has become America's Team. The Tigers had a 0.4% chance of making the playoffs back in August. One month later, the Tigers are three wins away from reaching the ALCS.
Detroit stunned the Houston Astros in the wildcard round, picking up a two-game sweep. The Tigers trailed 2-1 entering the top of the eighth inning. Andy Ibanez delivered the most significant swing of his career, hitting a base-clearing double to give the Tigers a 5-2 lead.
The Tigers' bats were quiet in Game 1 of the ALDS, with just four hits.
Catcher Jake Rogers has been swinging a hot bat, hitting .300 in the postseason.
Ibanez leads the Tigers, driving in three postseason runs.
The Tigers' best player, Riley Greene, is batting .167 in the postseason and will need to heat up sooner than later.
Future CY Young award winner Tarik Skubal will toe the rubber tonight. Skubal went 18-4 with a 2.39 era during the regular season. The southpaw pitched six scoreless innings against the Astros last week.
Detroit Tigers vs. Cleveland Guardians Betting Pick
I will not be fading Skubal this afternoon after fading him last week.
The southpaw is locked in and faces a lineup he has dominated outside of Jose Ramirez.
Ramirez is batting .429 in 21 at-bats against Skubal. The rest of the Guardians lineup is 8-for-41.
The Tigers lineup will grind out at-bats and produce runs against Boyd this afternoon.
