Best MLB Home Run Bets: Will Jackson Merrill Go Yard on Wednesday After New Contract Extension?

Jackson Merrill just signed a massive new deal with the Padres for nine years, $135 million. Will that boost him to hit a dinger on Wednesday afternoon against the Guardians? Jason Radowitz likes the angle, and targets a few other stars to go deep today on the April 2nd MLB slate.

What's better than slugging a home run after signing a massive extension?

Jackson Merrill has smashed a .230 ISO and wOBA of .381 with only 17.6% of strikeouts dating back to last year against righties.

Today, the lefty will battle Ben Lively of the Guardians, who allowed a .194 ISO and wOBA of .320 to 305 lefties last season. Lively allowed 47.4% of hard contact and gave up more than 30% of fly balls to lefties last year.

He started this year allowing a .400 ISO and wOBA of .426 to his first ten lefties.

Meanwhile, Merrill has slugged 35.2% of fly balls and just 34% of ground balls against his last 442 righties. He's also added 55.7% of hard contact and a 12.6% barrel percentage.

Let's back Merrill to go deep today.

Juan Soto to Hit a Home Run (+330) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

Juan Soto has had a lot of loud outs to begin the season.

Tonight, I like him to get one over the fence.

Soto has unloaded a .289 ISO and wOBA of .432 against his last 498 righties dating back to last season. He's also struck out only 18.5% of the time and has hit 66% of hard contact with a 21.3% barrel percentage.

He'll battle a right-hander in Connor Gillispie of the Marlins. Gillispie has already faced ten lefties this season. However, those ten lefties have hit a .375 ISO with 33.3% of fly balls.

All in all, Gillispie has allowed a .211 ISO and wOBA of .330 to start the season. Soto should be able to take advantage as one of the best hitters in the game.

Nick Castellanos to Hit a Home Run (+500) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds

The Rockies will pitch left-hander Kyle Freeland tonight. Freeland looked tremendous in his opening start. He struck out 35% of batters, walked none, and allowed a .000 ISO with a wOBA of .089.

But don't expect this all season from Freeland. After all, he allowed a .211 ISO and wOBA of .356 to 492 batters last season.

Righties hit a .205 ISO and wOBA of .346 with 26.2% of fly balls and 50.5% of hard contact.

Meanwhile, Nick Castellanos is the most powerful right-handed bat in the Phillies' lineup. He's added a .228 ISO and wOBA of .358 against his last 176 lefties dating back to last season. Castellanos has hit 32.5% of fly balls, 28.5% of line drives, and 48% of hard contact.

Let's back Castellanos to hit a long ball.
