Bubic has been one of the biggest surprises this season. The Royals left-hander is 4-2 with a 1.66 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 25.6% strikeout rate and 6.8% walk rate. Bubic is averaging six innings per start and struck out at least six in six of his nine starts. He has pitched at least seven innings in two of the last five starts and allowed one earned run over his last 18 innings.
He has struck out 16 over his last two starts. One of the misses came against Baltimore on May 3 when there was a rain delay and Bubic came back after but was limited to 72 pitches over five innings.
Bubic ranks in the 85th percentile of chase rate, 78th percentile of whiff rate and 73rd percentile of strikeout percentage. The Royals play in San Francisco and the Giants have the ninth-highest strikeout rate against left-handed pitching at 24.6%. The Giants have the sixth-worst walk percentage against lefties at 7.7%. Bubic has fared well against right-handers with a 29.1% strikeout rate and a .088 ISO allowed.
He grew up in Cupertino, California, which is an hour away from Oracle Park and Bubic went to Giants games when he was younger. He last pitched in San Francisco on April 9, 2023 and struck out nine over six scoreless innings.

Neto has quietly been one of the best shortstops in baseball to start the season. He had shoulder surgery in the off-season and began the season on the injured list for the Angels and made his season debut on April 18.
Neto is slashing .283/.336/.557 with 21 runs, eight doubles, seven home runs, 15 RBIs and seven stolen bases in 106 at-bats. Neto has gone over this line in six of the last eight games and 10 of the last 13. The Angels are coming off a three-game sweep of the Dodgers where Neto went 5-for-12 with four runs scored, three doubles, one home run and four RBIs.
The Angels play in Sutter Health Park, which is a great environment for hitters. Neto will lead off, providing a good chance for five at-bats. Neto gets a matchup against J.T. Ginn, who comes off the injured list after missing time with right elbow inflammation. In three starts, Ginn has a 4.61 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, a 53.7% hard hit rate and 12.2% barrel rate.
