Best MLB Hitter Props: Targeting Jose Ramirez, Christian Yelich on Friday, June 6th

Jose Ramirez is coming off a torrid May and has continued hitting in June. He has a 1.089 OPS against left-handed pitching and faces one on Friday. Christian Yelich wasn’t as good in May, but has been one of the best hitters over the last two weeks and gets a favorable matchup against Randy Vasquez.

Once again, Ramirez is one of the best players in baseball and doesn’t tend to get the attention he deserves. He is slashing .330/.384/.549 with 38 runs, 14 doubles, 11 home runs, 29 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. 

Ramirez hit .386 with a 1.085 OPS in May. In four games in June, the Guardians third baseman is 7-for-17 (.412) with a double, home run and a 1.059 OPS. Ramirez has at least two total bases in eight of the last nine games. He has multiple hits in seven of the last nine games. Ramirez has 17 hits with six extra base hits over his last 10 games. Since May 1st, he has a hit in every game except two.

Ramirez will face Astros left-hander Colton Gordon. He has a 5.95 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 23.3% strikeout rate and 3.4% walk rate. He has a whiff rate in the ninth percentile and allowed an OPS of .914 to right-handed hitters and 11 extra base hits in 70 at-bats. In 54 at-bats against lefties, Ramirez is hitting .426 with five doubles, two home runs and a 1.089 OPS.

After May 23rd, Christian Yelich was slashing .199/.292/.366. Two weeks later, the Brewers outfielder is up to .237/.316/.430. Yelich is on an 11-game hitting streak and has at least two total bases in eight of the games with a .493 wOBA and .283 ISO. He has multiple hits in seven games and six home runs and 15RBIs during the streak.

Yelich takes on Padres right-hander Randy Vasquez, who has a 3.99 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP. The underlying numbers are terrible and it’s catching up to him lately. Vasquez has a 13.6% strikeout rate, 11.7% walk rate, 5.80 xERA, and an 11.6% barrel rate. 

Yelich has done most of his damage against righties with an .869 OPS, .371 wOBA, and 12 of his 13 home runs. Vasquez has allowed an .898 OPS to righties and six of the eight home runs he allowed in addition to a .393 wOBA and a 50% fly ball rate. He has allowed seven home runs over his last five starts and 32 hits over his last 31.1 innings.
