After hitting a career-high 36 home runs last season, Ketel Marte is showing it was no fluke. He is the starting second baseman for the National League All-Star team and it’s deserving. Marte is slashing .292/.397/.580 with 52 runs, 19 home runs and 40 RBIs with a .977 OPS in only 243 at-bats since he missed almost one month with a hamstring injury.
Marte is in the 85th percentile or more in six Statcast categories, including the 95th percentile of barrel rate. Marte has seven home runs in his last 18 games. He will go against Angels’ left-hander Tyler Anderson, who has a 4.19 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 18.7% strikeout rate and 8.7% walk rate.
Anderson hasn’t been able to solve Marte. In his career, Marte is batting .433 (13-for-30) with two home runs, an .833 slugging percentage and a 1.348 OPS. Marte has hit better on the road and it also gives him a good shot at five at-bats. On the road, Marte is batting .331 with 11 home runs and a 1.107 OPS in 121 at-bats.

Elly De La Cruz is slashing .280/.351/.488 with 71 runs, 17 doubles, 18 home runs, 63 RBIs and 23 stolen bases. Getting De La Cruz at home against the Rockies pitching staff is ideal. He has at least two total bases in seven of the last 10 home games.
De La Cruz has been hammering right-handed pitching since June 1st with a .985 OPS and .420 wOBA. Overall, he has a .912 OPS and 12 of his home runs against right-handers. He is in the 83rd percentile of barrel rate and 82nd percentile of average exit velocity.
Right-hander German Marquez takes the mound for Colorado. He has a 5.84 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, 15.3% strikeout rate and 6.8% walk rate.
