The 2025 MLB All-Star Game is set to begin tonight at 8:00 pm ET in Truist Park, the home of the Atlanta Braves.
The starters were already announced for both teams.
The American League will roll with former American League Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal. He's a left-handed pitcher who has a 10-3 record with a 2.23 ERA.
Meanwhile, the National League will give the ball to Paul Skenes in the first inning, for the second straight time. Skenes threw a scoreless first inning in last year's game and will likely do the same this year. After all, he's got a 2.01 ERA on the season for the Pirates, and is in the running for this year's NL Cy Young Award. The only thing that could bring him down is the fact that he's 4-8. But that's a reflection on Pittsburgh's hitting, not Skenes' pitching.
That said, don't expect much scoring in this game. Both teams have electric pitching, despite many pitchers coming in as replacements.

As the home team, Paul Skenes will be the first pitcher on the mound tonight. The right-hander has struck out 32.7% of batters over the last 30 days and has allowed just a .085 ISO and wOBA of .285 in that span. He's also allowed just 21.7% of fly balls and has walked only 7.7% of batters over the last month.
Gleyber Torres and Riley Greene have both had success against righties over the last 30 days. However, Greene has struck out more than 35% against righties, and Torres has hit just 23.6% of fly balls.
Once Skenes gets past those two, he'll battle Aaron Judge, who has also struck out 30.8% of the time against righties over the last month. Don't be surprised if Skenes is almost untouchable to begin the game.
On the other hand, Tarik Skubal will get the start for the American League. With the Tigers, Skubal has struck out 35.3% of batters over the last month. He has also allowed a .127 ISO and a wOBA of .242 during the previous 30 days.
He'll duel against Shohei Ohtani to lead things off in the bottom half. Ohtani has power, but he's also struck out 27.9% of the time against lefties over the last 30 days. Meanwhile, Ronald Acuna Jr. has hit a .091 ISO with 30% of strikeouts against lefties against his last 30 lefties.
Finally, while Ketel Marte has good metrics against lefties over the last month, he's got nothing to show for it. Marte, as a righty hitter, has a .269 BABIP against lefties over the previous month.

The National League has won the All-Star Game just once in the last 11 games. However, they're still favorites in tonight's showdown against the American League.
The National League has a more balanced lineup and more flexibility on the bench. Additionally, the pitching has more potential, with the ability to increase the rate of strikeouts.
Ultimately, we don't know every pitcher from innings 2 to 9. But the thought is that the National League has more talent overall.
