Entering the series Milwaukee was the betting favorite after winning their third NL Central title in four years, but the Mets are clearly the hotter team.

Pat Murphy’s team jumped out an encouraging 2-0 lead yesterday in the bottom of the first inning. At one point in the inning, the Brewers became -600 favorites on the moneyline.
Brewers starter Freddy Peralta could not hold the lead as veteran Jesse Winker struck a two-run RBI triple into the right-field corner. Starling Marte would drive Winker in with a sacrifice fly to give the Mets a 3-2 lead.
The Brewers answered as William Contreas knocked in Brice Turang to give the Brew Crew a 4-3 lead.
New York plated five two-out runs in the 5th inning to take an 8-4 lead and never looked back.
