The Basketball Tournament (TBT) continues today in the Dayton regional, as the teams had a day off yesterday following all eight being in action on Sunday. With the winner of the regional punching their ticket through tomorrow night, let’s take a closer look at the teams involved, as well as a West Virginia regional matchup.

Men of Mackey vs. The Money Team Start Time and Where To Watch

Men of Mackey vs. The Money Team Prediction

The Purdue alumni team is so far making their fourth trip to TBT a strong one, as they look to match last year’s run with two wins against The Money Team tonight in Dayton. In game one, they handled business against Mid American Unity, as Kelsey Barlow led all scorers with 22 points on the night. 

As for the Floyd Mayweather Jr. backed The Money Team, the No. 1 seed in the region had more trouble than expected getting past Athletics Miami on Sunday, as no player outside Jimmer Fredette (29 points) was able to get into the double digits. While Fredette may be enough to get them through to the quarterfinals, I think we see the more experienced Men of Mackey cause them fits tonight and keep this one close.

Herd That vs. Best Virginia Start Time and Where To Watch

Herd That vs. Best Virginia Prediction

The West Virginia alumni team handled their business in a big way on Sunday, winning their first-round matchup by 30 points, and advancing to the second round for the second straight season. Led by the lethal duo of Kevin Jones and John Flowers (28 points in game one), Best Virginia is the top seed in this region for good reason are a bear to deal with on the glass and perimeter. 

As for Herd That, the Marshall alumni team, they enterest this tournament with high expectations after getting close season, as James Kelly returns this year and is complimented even more talent than last. Justin Johnson led all scorers with 17 in game one, and I expect a similar type of performance tonight. 

The depth for Best Virginia is just too great, however, and I look for the top seed to edge out a narrow victory.

Red Scare vs. Golden Eagles Start Time and Where To Watch

When - 9:00 p.m. EST

Red Scare vs. Golden Eagles Prediction

Heading back to the Dayton regional for this one, both the Red Scare and Golden Eagles narrowly avoided disaster in their opening games, winning by a combined 10 points. For the Red Scare, a Dayton alumni team, Trey Landers and Darrell Davis are back this season as they look to take advantage of their home court once again.

As for the Golden Eagles, the Marquette alum won the TBT championship in 2020 and made a deep run last season, and with much of the roster back, will be one of the harder outs of the tournament. Look for Darius Johnson-Odom to cause fits for the Red Scare, and for the Golden Eagles to get one step closer to punching their ticket tonight in Dayton.
